Is Getting an Apple iPad BuyBack From Apple a Good Idea?

A hardcore, true-to-the-bone Apple fanatic would know that since GreenPeace blasted the tech giant for its non-environmental ways of producing and selling an iPad (and other iDevices and Mac products as well), the tech giant has devised ways to lessen their carbon footprints and save the Earth all while letting the whole world and the media know about their efforts. Indeed, it’s just pure genius. One of their devised ways to promote recycling is by including the Recycling tab on their website which features solutions to Apple product owners and the environmental steps the tech company is making through green products. Their current recycling initiative is a bomb. Since 1994, 115,504 metric tons of Apple products were recycled in the world which amounts to more than the weight of an aircraft carrier. But still, only 13.6 percent of all electronics produced are recycled, this leaves us with one question: Is recycling an iPad really helpful or not?

The Official iPad BuyBack

One of the iPad maker’s green thumb ways is to ask people for their old electronics, especially Apple products. They call this the Apple Reuse and Recycling Program and it is now being offered in almost 95 percent of all countries where the tech giant’s products are being sold. Currently, the iDevice genius company is recycling and selling an iPad not only in America but also in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and even in Latin America. They even have state-specific programs for people who live in Missouri, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma and Virginia. The key process in this program is that Apple tries to collect old iDevices such as iPads, Apple TVs, iPhones, MacBooks and other products including Mac notebook batteries from their customers and estimates the shipped devices for its value. Once the estimates are done, the IT company mails the customer a Gift Card to be used in their retail stores, app stores, and online stores.

The good thing about this move is that it enables the IT company to be virtually closer to their customers by letting their fans be a part of their environmental initiatives. However, this doesn’t prove to be a very profitable deal for the customer because, what else will you be able to do with an Apple GC? The fact is that most people didn’t knoaw about this program and it’s got so many restrictions. First, the GC amount you’ll get is based on the value of your iDevice. Also, your GC is under so many policies and restrictions on the App Store that you probably won’t like it and would want to sell your iPad for cash instead. You also won’t be able to convert you GC for cash so you’ll be loaded with so many apps you’ll start to hate Apple.

The Alternative iPad BuyBack

If you really want to get something out of your old iPad, I’d rather tell you to sell your iPad for cash to other refurbishment sites like Cash for iPads. These refurb sites buy iPads in any condition and also pay in cold hard cash. Yes, I know what you’re thinking. If you’re wishing to sell an iPad look into this site to know more!
